The ICASA Type Approval process is based on three core technical compliance assessments:
performance testing in accordance with applicable technical standards, electromagnetic compatibility testing (including emissions and immunity), and safety testing.
Applicants must submit completed application forms together with conformance test reports issued by internationally recognised Accredited Test Laboratories (ATL). These reports must demonstrate full compliance with ICASA’s Technical Regulations.
Prior to submitting an ICASA Type Approval application, applicants are required to register on the ICASA database as a Supplier of Equipment. This is a once-off registration available only to South African registered entities and is provided at no additional cost. Any subsequent changes to supplier details must be communicated to ICASA within thirty days.
